Part of the reason many people have long since dismissed scripture is because it has become petrified deadwood that cannot be eaten today because it is no longer living in those citing it, something that was never the plan for Jesus and his New Covenant church.
The eternal, unchanging truths *must* be spoken in new tongues (in new language) continually because human language changes and shifts over time, but truth does not.
You won't, you can't, convince most people by reading them human-translated words from 2,000 years ago alone; those truths must be continually spoken in new tongues every day, confirmed by the undeniable power of God demonstrated in the acting out in everyday life of those words, in the lives of the speakers, because they have eaten the Living Word and it is in them.
If they don't see the speakers *living out* the Word in them, that they have eaten, that Living Bread, that same Word that lives in the commandments of Christ in the Sermon on the Mount and the Sermon on the plain, most critically (because those are the core teachings of Christian life, for as he said, "these words I speak, THEY are spirit and they are life"), then powerless citations of letters written by Paul to early Christian communities in a different cultural context in Rome or Corinth are meaningless.
